Shard
Shard
Poem by Bud Caywood
Art by Rose Hunter
At the water’s edge, I found
blue grass, lake and polished sky
in one small chip, blithe and triangular.
I held it concave in my palm,
seeing clouds and sun,
and weeping willows up-side-down.
Then, stuck it in my back pocket,
a good luck piece forever–
what else could it possibly be?
-refers from the phrase “as though out of the blue” in the poem After we kissed for the first time by Carolee Sherwood

Thank you, Bud, for this poem! I loved the weeping willows upside down.

Thanks Debbie! It’s my back patio. I should take another; it looks a bit different now.
I like “blithe and triangular.” ++
