Crafting Casas
Crafting Casas
In my hometown people paint
their homes in bright colors hoping
to ward off evil spirits. Piñata pink,
folkorico yellow, papaya
peach, sombrero blue.
I’m seeing cilantro green trimmed
in fiesta red, sarape purple paired
with mango orange. Houses
whose windows are painted on too.
I want to build a neighborhood.
-refers from the word “evil” in Cecilia Chapman’s collaborative poem Meet the Bluffs

Andrea, I loved this when I first read it . . .all the color. Then I watched the video and it brought a whole new level to your poem! Thank you!

Beautiful language and imagery! Makes me want to read more and drink something frothy with hope and citrus!
