Year in Review
First, and foremost, I’d like to thank all our collaborators during our first year of existence. This includes all of our contributors and the wonderful editors who have helped us along the way. We’ve gone through quite a few changes in one year but the About page has never changed and I like that. Our mission statement stands strong!
So what did we do this first year?
Our first post was on January 20, 2010! We then opened our first reading period on February 1st. We then published our first piece on March 3rd. Since then we have posted M-F on most weeks which has brought us to a pretty good archive of work that you can still refer to even as we add new work fro 2011 🙂
- Published 6 pieces of non-fiction (would LOVE to see more) with one as feature and the rest as referrals.
- Published 16 pieces of fiction, including one as feature but the rest were terrific referrals! (now under Archive/2010)
- Published 28 pieces of art (not included bio pics, my sock picture on the Guidelines page or anything that appears on about or in the side bar cause those are often mine!) We’d also love to see more of our pieces “illustrated” even those in archives and any pages we have (such as contents etc) You do not have to be a professional to send us your art and photography!
- Poetry is last because poetry was what was most submitted and most accepted (although percentage wise, I think we actually had a higher acceptance rate in non-fiction…) *drum roll* 58 poems!! They are now under 2010 Archive – Poetry – and organized by month because there are so many.
In addition to these publications we also added an Editor’s Challenge which I want to spend some more time on and we completed nominations for Pushcart, Best of the Web and Best of the Net.
Goals for 2011?
To keep trucking along, publishing the terrific work that is being sent to us (we have enough pending in submishmash for a while but always welcome more!) and to hopefully some day see Referential mentioned in someone’s book or bio acknowledgement. Yep. That would rock!
From the crew at Referential see ya in 2011!!
